Anybody see anything in the PNW that’s interesting? Minor projects okay, $2k or less, no FWD, no Subarus. And go!
E24 for your time. Now with less ugly amber corners!

My other coupe is an ugly cheap Mark VIII that is an ongoing project.
Where are you at in the PNW? I’m in good ol’ (not) Salem.

That may very well be the cleanest one I’ve ever seen, and still less than $3k. NP.

I’m up in Portland area, but spent memorable day at House of Ghia in Salem over the summer. Do you make it up to PIR for summer events?

Just looked up house of ghia. How did I not know about this place???
Every year I say I’m going to start making it to shows/meets/autox/etc. but never end up following through. I need to.

Not bad, but would probably go with the ‘Lark. Vinyl tops frighten me.

It’s way above budget but it looks good for the price

It’s a sweet shop for sure. He’s also expanding soon into a larger space. We’re planning to do a story about the shop once he’s settled in to the new digs.
It’s easy to get sidetracked in summer, and this summer I missed some events due to the extreme heat during those weekends. I’d recommend trying for the Portland Vintage Racing Festival (formerly Portland Historic Races), All British Field Meet, and Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance. The first two are held at PIR and the concours at Pacific University in Forest Grove just west of town, and it’s a nice gathering of friends, not at all stuffy or pretentious. Of course Beaches weekly Cruise-In in supposed to be absolutely massive in the peak months during summer with 1,000+ cars, people watching, live bands, food, etc., , tho I haven’t made it out myself.

It does, I’ve never been a huge e36 fan though - or a convertible fan. I think the only e36s I’d buy would have to be hardtop, and techno violet or black.

Haha!

I’ll have to give them a shot next year! I may be trying to find a winter meet of some kind as well

The 80s are very polarizing. I do my best to preserve this great time period, much to the chagrin of friends and family.

I actually love the look of the turbine wheels...but I’ve always been irked by the fact that one side of the car has wheels that turning in the opposite direction
![]() 10/08/2016 at 18:58 |
|
They’re directional! Both sides have the blades facing forward so to speak.

Otherside:

The hard tops look great on e36s because of the missing b pillar. Kind of in the same vein as older Mercedes convertibles I think.

Plus an e36 very is the only reasonable way to an m3 these days.
![]() 10/08/2016 at 19:28 |

I think the only m3 I’d be truly interested in buying with my own money is an e46. I’m more of a full size car guy, and if I did go small bmw, I’d want a clownshoe.

“Ugly amber corners”
Get out.

Amber is an ugly color and an ugly word. For the front I plan on buying euro clears and tinting them yellow.

I like that they are symmetrical on your car. It looks great. I’ve seen other examples that don’t match up. *wish the point of the blade was cocked the other direction, though
![]() 10/08/2016 at 21:14 |

These are actually meant to go on the way they are. I guess the turbine was designed to pull air that way. A lot of people put them on the wrong way. The later sawblades were meant to go the way you are talking about.

Yeah, it’s simply an aesthetic thing for me.
